Red rice with black husk, cultivated in Kar(sowing) season. Karuthakkar rice is one of the traditional rice varieties of Tamil Nadu which has a low Glycemic index. People define this rice as medicinal rice as it has many medicinal properties.
It is rich in manganese and selenium. In Siddha, this rice is used to treat foodborne diseases. Regular consumption of this rice helps to cure piles and constipation. This rice eases the process of digestion and makes us feel full longer after eating. As a result, it helps in weight loss.
